New team pages

The team pages are rebuilt.

Open any club and the first thing you get is where they rank: every measure dropped into a band, elite down to weak, so you read a team’s character in about ten seconds instead of hunting through a table.

Under that: recent form as a run of results with the margin on each one, a leaders ring that shows how the scoring is shared rather than just who tops it, and a shot map that answers two questions side by side, where they shoot from and how well they shoot from there. Then the season stats, the splits, the game log and the coach.

Pick your team and see how it reads.

Also this week

Fenerbahce won 64-61 at Olympiacos and now share first place. A new free tool measures every club against itself a year ago and tells you which end changed. And Crvena Zvezda are winning with the worst shooting in the league, which should not work and does.

One more thing before you read on: this is a double week. Round 8 is Tuesday and Wednesday, Round 9 is Thursday and Friday. Twenty games in four days, and the first week of the season where depth decides something.

Issue 17.

Better or Worse? Every club against itself, a year ago

A new free tool measures every club against itself over the same games last season, and tells you whether the change came from the offence or the defence. Panathinaikos are scoring worse and have improved by 16 points per 100 anyway.

Crvena Zvezda are winning without their shooting

The worst shooting team in the EuroLeague is fifth. The defence explains the wins, and the numbers explain how the offence broke.
